For dyeing process of conventional
fabric, pigment is applied after the fabric is made. Because
colour is not an integral part of the fabric, conventionally
dyed fabrics are more susceptible to fading. In addition,
stain removal can be extremely difficult and may ruin the
fabric.
In addition to the solution dyed process, Sunbrella®
fabrics are treated with a fluorocarbon finish that acts as
a sealant resistant to water and stains. Glen Raven is one
of the only few SOLUTION DYEING capable manufacturing plant
in the world and with the highest quality. Visually, Sunbrella®
fabrics look similar to other acrylic canvas, however the
difference is apparent after pro-long period of use, constant
sun light exposure and other harsh conditions.
